Cake in a Mason Jar
Is there anything more sad than having left over cake and having to just throw it away?! It's the worst. It takes all the self control in the world to not eat it all up just to save it from the trash can. Like aaaaaaaalllllll the self control. I mean it's cake! I've got you covered though friends, here's the skinny on how to gift that baby boy!
I bought this yummy lemon cake from the store to bring to an event at church and ended up with half of it left over. I wanted to take it to some friends to say thank you for the help they are always willing to lend anytime I need it, but wasn't sure how to give it to them without it looking totally tacky. The thought popped into my head that I could put it in a mason jar so I ran to Target super late because they are open till 11 pm (yesssss!!!!!). I sliced that baby up, slapped some cupcake wrappers on top and bam! Left over cake ready for gifting!
I used the lid to the jar to measure out the squares to make sure the slices were small enough to fit in the jar without having the smash the top to get it down. You certainly don't want finger indentations in a dessert you are gifting.
I had some fun Spring themed cupcake liners in the pantry so I put those under the lid and tied some pink raffia around. A cute little gift tag would be darling tied on there too!
The cake came plain, but I added these little star sprinkles for some color. I love how you can see them through the side of the jar. Who wouldn't love to have this dropped on their doorstep?
