Peace of Mind with Sophos
It's amazing how much your frame of mind changes when you have kids. The things that were once a big deal become less important and the things you didn't give a second thought to become high priority. I remember the first nights in the hospital when Gavin, my oldest, was born. I literally didn't sleep the first two nights because I was terrified that he would just stop breathing and be gone. One of the nurses actually reprimanded me because I had closed my eyes for a few moments with him in my arms in the bed, I simply could not let him go. I'd like to say that the fears I face as the mother of 3 children lessen as they get older and I gain more life experience, but they actually just evolve.
I traded in those fears of them never waking up for fears that they would never nap or be able to fall asleep without being rocked and swaddled. I stopped worrying about making sure everything they ate was organic or fresh and now hope that eating frozen pizza everyday for lunch won't stunt their growth. I stopped worrying about if they were keeping up with the milestones of other kids around me and now worry if I've taught them well enough to be leaders of self instead of blindly following peers.
You see as a parent we sign up for a lifetime of worry, it may not have been in the job description and it sure won't go away when they turn 18 or move out or get married...but as parents we are willing to endure it. Why? It's so simple, the joy and happiness that fills our lives far outweighs those moments of worry. When you can find small things that can bring you peace of mind as a parent, it's like finding little bits of gold.
Like when you are running late to school pick up, but one of your girlfriend says, "don't worry, I'll get them for you" and you know someone will be there to greet them with open arms.
Like when you know your child will actually eat lunch at school because it's fresh cheese pizza day.
Like when you reward them for a job well done at a photo shoot with some "screentime" and you know they will be protected from finding their way onto dangerous sites because you have Sophos installed on your computer.
