Ghostbusters Birthday Party
Last month my sweet middle child, Dylan, turned 4. Since his birthday is right before Elevate Conference we usually do something low key with just family. He's finally old enough to actually ask for a birthday party so I just couldn't say no to his darling face. He originally requested a Lego party, however I was eventually able to sway him towards a Ghostbusters party which was so much fun to plan!
Can you tell he kind of loved it? He was on cloud nine the entire day and while it was totally stressful to put together a party when I had so much going on, this smile made it all worth it.
Now this face on the other hand...just makes me bust up laughing.
Here are all the deets on this super fun party! Make sure to scroll to the bottom for a link to download all the printables I created for the party for FREE!
Let's start with these cute mini pizza boxes shall we?! I ordered these off amazon and folded them inside out so the pizza printing was on the inside. Then I printed these custom covers to make them extra special. We used these as plates so each of the kids got a piece of pizza, a slice of watermelon and some chips in their personal pizza box.
I enlisted the help of my talented friend Lizzie to help me with Dylan's cake. I just showed her an inspiration photo and she had a game plan all ready. The best thing about this cake was that I ordered it from Sam's Club. They sell 2 tiered cakes so I requested that they just frost it plain and leave it unstacked. Lizzie and I covered the 2 cakes with fondant and then stacked them ourselves to decorate them.
Here is her amazing Stay Puft Marshmallow man....
My slimer leaves a little to be desired. lol
These sugar cookies may be my favorite thing about the party set up. They were the kids' favorite too. I looked all over Etsy for a shop that could create these babies cause I didn't dare tackle them on my own. I contacted Janice from Cookie Fiesta who was just a doll to work with. They came packed so well, each one in bubble wrap and perfectly in tact. Check out all her adorable creations here.
I mean, really. These put my cake Slimer to shame. I couldn't even imagine all the work that goes into creating each one of these.
Every party needs to have gumballs.
And Kool Aide
A little hydration with your sugar?
I hit the easy button with these chocolate dipped marshmallows. Just as cute as cake pops and take about 1/10th of the time. #winning I had some PVC pipe laying around so I sprayed them black and filled them with mini marshmallows to help the pops stay in place.
Ectopalsm aka jello, also a big hit with the kiddies.
I added some green food coloring to this marshmallow mixture and poured it on to some popcorn to make it look like Slimer had slimed it.
Each child got their own proton pack complete with silly string just in case some ghostbusters were needed at a moments notice.
Dylan and his girlfriend Matilda. To say that he loves her is an understatement.
Our big boy Gavin.
Daddy and his Kennie girl.
Stay Puft and Slimer didn't stand a chance against this gang of Ghostbusters!
Mission accomplished!
