Keeping Your Kids Healthy This Season
Any Mom with school aged kids can feel me when I say, "Cold season is THE worst!" One kid brings it home and proceeds to "share" their cute little germies with entire family. Cold season is particularly miserable in our home since my little ones usually take a 2 week course of singular to kick their cough and colds to the curb. Well, I've discovered a couple of handy tips to keep your little ones healthy this season and I'm sharing 3 tidbits of wisdom with you all today. Hopefully they will keep your doctor visits to a minimum.
1. Washie Washie! It may take a fight, but it will be worth it. Have your children wash their hands as soon as they come home from school and frequently throughout the day. My kids constantly have their hands in their mouth so this is a big way to combat spreading the cold germs around our family. Offer a reward or treat for washing their hands a certain number of times each day to make it less of a fight.
2. Boost Immunity! Feed your children foods that are high in vitamin C and other nutrients. My kids each Cuties like they are going out of style and Orange Juice is a big favorite as well. You could also freeze orange juice popsicles or make a smoothie if they aren't big on the original version. I like to make a big pot of homemade chicken noodle soup on cold days to help keep them warm. The broth is so yummy and it makes eating veggies a little easier too. HERE is my favorite family Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe. Kennie gobbles up the veggies from the soup, can't get her to eat them any other way.
3. Suck It! Okay I have to admit I was totally grossed out by the thought of sucking my babies snot out with my mouth, but I swear by this Baby Comfy Nose Nasal Aspirator . It is like a gift from heaven. I challenge you to cut your bulb aspirator open and see what you are exposing your baby to. That thing just breeds mold and germs. This aspirator is totally clear and you can take it apart to clean it fully. It is effective at removing any gunk that is stuffing up your little ones nose and the tissue filter catches it all so all you suck out it air. I promise you will not go back to the blue bulb thing.
