Homemade Whipped Cream Recipe
My mom taught me how to make whipped cream from scratch and I have to say that I almost never buy the already made stuff anymore. The fact that the only ingredients you need are heavy whipping cream, vanilla and sugar make this almost as easy as opening the cool whip container. Once you try homemade, I promise you will never go back!
One of the best things about this recipe is that you literally can not mess it up. It's pretty much fool proof!
If you happen to have some strawberries in the fridge try chopping them up and mixing them in at the end. So good! It's so light and fluffy, it makes a perfect topping for angel food cake!
I hate when you go to a restaurant and the whipping cream has no sweetness to it. This recipe calls for 5 tablespoons of sugar, but if you happen to like it less sweet make sure to taste as you add and mix each tablespoon.
I also like my whipped cream pretty stiff, helps it not to melt super quick when you put it on top of something warm like waffles. Looking for a fruit dip recipe? Try adding half a block of cream cheese to the finished whipped cream and your party guests will be fighting over who gets to lick the bowl.
- 1 pint heavy whipping cream
- 1 t vanilla extract
- 5 T sugar (more or less to taste)
- Using beaters or a stand mixer beat whipping cream till it begins to set up (2-4 min)
- Add vanilla and sugar while beating on low
- Once you have reached your desired sweetness, beat again till stiff peak forms when you lift beaters out of bowl (2-4 more min.)
