DIY Gold Glitter Cake Stand
Cake stands are my favorite. I find an excuse to need one for every dessert, every holiday, in every shape, size and color. I wish my collection was larger, but for now I can make cheap ones in all the colors of the rainbow if I'd like! The Dollar Tree has great plates and candlesticks.I sprayed the back of the plate and the entire candlestick gold.I do not spray the front of the plate because I like the little design showing through and then I don't have to worry about putting food on top.I covered the plate in glitter and because I had just sprayed paint, most of the glitter stuck right to it.For some areas that the glitter didn't stick to, I put some modge podge on and more glitter on top of it.I have used hot glue before to put together the plate and candlestick and it works ok, but not great. It probably wouldn't hold up for more than a few uses.I found white silicone sealant at Target and wanted to try it. I put a generous amount on the candlestick, used a really heavy book to weigh it down and left it for about an hour.It has held up really well so far.I cut out some shamrocks with my Silhouette and started getting our kids all excited for St Patrick's Day!If you do not have a Silhouette or Cricut, this is a 4 leaf clover that can just be printed out and hand cut real quick.I glitter it all! The more sparkle the better!Until I save my pennies for more cake stands, this $2 cake stands look good to me! For a 5 minute quick Shamrock Banner, check out this post.
