Boys Room Tour
It has been some time coming, but I finally got the boys' room all finished and photographed to share with you all! It was a struggle to figure out how to make Star Wars, Porgs, Baseball and Football all come together for one cohesive room design, but we did it. I'm also about to share the 1 room decor item that has saved my sanity and solved so many fights to get them to clean their room. This one is a game changer mamas.
First step in trying to tie in all the things the boys each love was finding a neutral color palette. I went with black, grey and blue with pops of red and natural texture like wood. Their room is on the smaller side so storage was also something I tied into the decor.
Along with wood textures I selected metal accents in the decor and furniture.
Remember when I mentioned that game changer above??? Enter Beddy's bedding...I seriously sing it's praises daily as my children happily skip in to their bedrooms to make their beds. Well, they may not skip, but they do walk without rolling eyes, wining and complaining which is just as good in my opinion.
If you haven't heard of Beddy's allow me to rock your world. Beddy's is a one piece bedding set that has a bottom fitted sheet, minky top sheet and comforter all connected by a zipper. There are larger, easy to zip (yaaasss!!!) zippers on both sides so your child can unzip, climb in and zip themselves back up kind of like a sleeping bag. When they get up in the morning, they unzip, crawl out and zip it back up then BOOM! Bed is made! No tucking sheets, no tangled blankets and certainly no tears when it comes time to clean their room.
Beddy's are quick and easy to wash. The top part completely zips off of the fitted sheet for smaller washing machines, but you can leave it zipped if you have the space. For my son with ADHD and Sensor Processing Disorder this has allowed him to sleep better and feel more secure. He no longer tosses and turns because his sheets stay in place providing the sensory input his body craves. He also looooves the minky texture of the underside of the comforter.
One side of the room is all baseball for my baseball-loving boy! Hobby Lobby had some great options that kept with the rustic decor while looking classic. It is exactly what he wanted (and I'm happy too!!).
Like I said, their room is small and storage is essential. These baskets from Target make everything super neat because I can shove their stuff in there and push them under the bed!
Of course more storage in these adorable nightstands! They fit perfectly between their beds and provide so much additional storage.
The other side of the room is decorated for my Star Wars loving kid! Hobby Lobby came to the rescue on decor for this side too!
More rustic inspired storage solutions! These are perfect for holding all their treasures!
