Figuring Out Fitness

Friday,  April 29, 2016

You know how we have those things in life that we know we should do, know it will make us happy, know it’s going to feel good when it’s done…but for some reason we sit in resistance?  Frozen.  Stuck in a cycle of wanting a change, but not willing to take the first step.  This is where I have found myself lately.  In a struggle between wanting to be healthier and not feeling capable of sticking to it.  I figured that I needed a goal, a reason to start and actually keep going.  My husband and I are going to Cabo in exactly 6 weeks so this was the perfect incentive to get my booty in gear!

So now that I have an incentive, I needed some support.  There is no way I could get out of bed and workout before I have to get my son up and ready for school and I still have 2 little ones at home during the day.  Then there is homework and dinner and by the time everyone is settled at 9 pm I am not only exhausted, but still have a ton of work to get done before I can turn in for the night.  How in the world does one fit in a workout with all the family demands?!  Lucky for me, I have am amazing and supportive husband who has offered to take care of dinner and the kids right when he gets home from work so I can fit in a quick workout a couple days a week.

The other days I just try to get a quick workout in with the kids.  By quick I seriously mean about 15 minutes.  I get my yoga mat out and put towels out for them so we can all stretch or do yoga together.  Sometimes we play Just Dance or go on a walk.  Dylan loves to do push ups to show me how strong he is…just like Dad.  It’s interesting how fast they catch on to things that we do as parents, the good and the bad.  It helps motivate me when I see them wanting to eat better or be active.  I want them to enjoy doing things that are good for them!

The last thing that has helped me to get moving is treating myself to something that makes me feel good.  Great workout clothes at a reasonable price can be hard to come by, but Cents of Style has such a great selection and they are 50% off today with code ACTIVELOVE.  Jen and I are big big fans of everything Cents of Style does and their active line is no exception.  You have to check them out!  This tank and pair of joggers are my very favorite, but I’d love to hear which of their items you would choose.
